Trips for Children
Are you thinking of encouraging your son or daughter to take up fly-fishing? If so, book Martin for your day out. All children under 16 get to fish for free provided the parent is fishing too.
This is the ideal opportunity to have your child instructed by a fully qualified coach, whilst you benefit from a day afloat.
- Suitable tackle may be provided.
- Casting instruction, safety procedures and watercraft are all covered before ‘going fishing’.
- Explanation given as to the principles and ethics of our fine sport.
- Fly life and bird life around the lake will be observed and discussed.
- Practical fishing sessions, where father will not need to worry about child’s progress.
- On full day trips, cooked meal is provided, with beer/wine/soft drinks to accompany.
As a schoolteacher of twenty-two years standing, your child will be well catered for on a trip with Martin. Whilst Martin doesn’t want to impose a minimum age on the children that attend a session (often it is more important how strong the child is), Martin encouraged his own two children to learn their fishing through coarse angling until they were about thirteen years old. A knowledge of handling fish, the environment and the ethics of fishing are so much easier being picked up through fishing small ponds for roach, perch and carp, than through attempting to catch a trout on a vast water such as Chew Valley Lake!
